There is no way around it. The only long term solution for safer cycling is better cycling infrastructure. That means lanes that separate cyclists, pedestrians and cars completely. Not merely white lanes painted on the road that are nothing more than a placebo. However, separate cycle lanes are complicated, costly and take time to build. Until that time, we need to show a bit of kindness to each other on the road. Here are some top tips for a better time on the bike:

1. Leave a little wiggle room

If you’re a driver give the cyclist a little bit of room. Even if they’re blocking traffic in peak hour, which we all know can be frustrating, it’s just not worth it to sit there honking your horn or taking the risk of clipping the cyclist as you try to squeeze past.
